Classroom Practice 1
Small Board Activities
For Class Discussion and Prior Knowledge
Bring a classroom lively is not an easy work to do especially if I have so many quiet students who will not take part in class discussion. However I have an effective way to make them talking even if they are shy. One of the stategy is by having small board activity games. Small boards help me and my students to communicate better. For example, in a small group I ask them to share ideas about the lesson that we have done (discussion) then for about 10 minutes they will share their thought by writing it on the small board, so during the discussion they do not need to think instead they should only read their thought, which is written before on the board. By having this everyone can share and develop their thinking skills for a simple matter. The students were learning about how to evaluate good website. In this process they started with the prior knowledge where they should analyze 2 similar websites then they wrote their answers on the small board. The other activity was Dewey Decimal Classification where the students should identify the general number of DDC from the DDC games.
