During sharing the planet unit, PYP 1 learned about animals and plants and their habitat. As the connection with Information Literacy they learned how to identify a specific animals or plants based on their classifications. Then they wrote their finding in their paperwork before finally the published it. On the research they studied how to find information in a simple books. They also looked for information by identifying the main idea and or recognizing the important words related to their topic. They were helped by the guiding questions for their research such as what is your topic? ( to recognize the name of the plant or animal), Where can you find it? (to recognize the home/habitat), Can you mention the group of the plant or animal? is it mammals, amphibians, flowering plants, conifers, etc? (to recognize the classification), What are some interesting facts about this animal/plant?. Through the inquiry process the students also had peer reading to understand the reading text, discussion, movie session, and real observation in order to find the answers of their research
