Being a teacher librarian is not easy I should be able to do lot of things which other teachers do not do such as;
For the last four years I have been doing and developing my own self study which enable me to share more knowledge to my colleagues toward my expertise in information literacy. Related to my long term goal to establish an information literate society here are some of the result of my ongoing study. Some of the works are still on going process which will be developed over time.
What is it?
21st Century education is an education which cannot be separated from the ability of the learners to transfer and use information as a whole package. The growth of technology gives opportunity to people to work beyond time and place, and as the consequences there will be no boundaries in information usage.
In this phase people need to know and learn about information literacy. Information literacy skill is an understanding and set of abilities enabling individuals to recognize when information is needed and have the capacity to locate, use, and evaluate effectually the needed information (The Council of Australian University Librarians Information Literacy Standards, Canberra, 2001). By learning information literacy, learners are expected to be a responsible user towards information.
This blog will bring chance to all information users to work together, help each other, and learn from one to another by having discussion, sharing ideas and strategies, or even doing research together to find better understanding.
Why should we have it?
- Teach information literacy subject
- Work collaboratively across year levels
- Plan, assess, and conduct lessons individually
- Being responsible with library development
- Being responsible with the addition of the resources
- Expand networking to develop the LRC
